I dicked around on Rob's PS2 of GTA:VC and was elated beyond comparison. Running directly into cars was great, just tossing the character feet away from the crash. It was great to play games again. However I think the best part of my day was that of when I listened to a Jeff Buckley song, "The Sky is a Landfill"

I saw my friend Rob and Mike yesterday. I spent most of the day with Rob with much enjoyment since this is the first time in a long time I felt free to do whatever the fuck I want, without a guilt trip from grandma to do something more constructive. We went out, talked, ate and be merry. I ate a sandwich that Rob made for me that was great. It had a full flavour to it...and almost put the sandwiches I made in Vancouver to shame. Why is this? It's becasue the ingredients are very good. Not so much the condiments aside from the mayo which has it's qualities, but it was mainly how the meat and cheese filled my mouth with a full aroma of sandwich. The ones that I made in Vancouver, albeit good, now upon reflection seem full in flavour, but a very manufactured flavour.

Asshole or not?
I was told that I was a prick today. This isn't exactly news, I've been made aware that my actions that I think are funny, are indeed not. Like I said before, I can't really see myself doing these things, so I don't know....I mean I can't LITERALLY step outside my body and see me doing the crap that I normally do in order to gain insight on how rude it exactly is.
I don't know why I'm really this way....actually I do. I take liberties. I take SO many liberties it's not funny. The fact of the matter is for people I who give me those liberties in our friendship, I extend them beyond our friendship into other people. That may not be always the case, say for instance, with girls. I tend not to go insane, but there have been cases (and you know who you are). Another instances, people who are dead serious. Much like my friends in Vancouver. This might be by the fact that people who don't understand my humour, let alone not freaked out by the things I do. To be brutally honest, it's probably due to people I respect and to those I wish to have as allies....not necessarily as friends, that I offer my more sedated side to.
It's kinda hard to say, because those who stand my non-sedated side, kinda get this full deal of Stephen. On the other hand to those I offer this kinda of half package of the Stephen friendship, would most likely never see the true side of me, at most a few times in times of extreme boredom or extreme guilt. Sometimes I like being made aware of these such items due to the fact that they seem very funny, but on few occasions I have actually felt regret....genuine regret.

Lost soul
Nerds aren't bad people really. It's just that they're anti-social. Personally I see that nerds nowadays are being less frequent since now geeks are more accepted to a degree. Music, and especially the internet and videogames had introduced the geek into the mainstream, making it more acceptable and having the mainstream interact with them much more. This might be a forced type of interaction, but from it people are able to find friendship blossom.
So nerds are being less and less....but even rarer is the grown up nerd. I've seen one here up on the northern blue yonder here. And it was pretty scary.
I never really seen many nerds, just only one in my life. Other people are pretty outgoing and even if they exhibit "nerd" attributes there is enough evidence to show that they can surpass it with other activites, say hunting, working, etc. But to truly see a grown up nerd, almost emanating the aura you can feel of low self-esteem, anti social behaviour and especially the lack of confidence that brings "weirdness" into play, it truly frights me.
The thing is, nerds tend to grow out of this stage of awkwardness. They at least find a friend whom they can hang out with oustide of games or whatever that causes them to have a very "business like" partnership in just pleasing themselves in their games or RPGing or activity. But the fact is, why grown up adult nerds are so hard to find is that they grow INTO something. Whether be a punk, evolve to the better geek, architect (you know I'm write..I mean fucking straight lines!) and serial killers. The thing is when they actually grow up they leave the nerd status behind.
He came in, and I could see it in his posture. A shrunken posture, not of a old man, but almost that of a frightened mouse. He looked around early 30s, but he could've have been so "nerdy" he might have really been in his late twenties. He paced the store in his shrunken posture, unsurity in every movement. He searched around, reading comics. I dont' disdane the reading of comics, hell I even do it, my friends do it, I think a lot of people should do it more, but the fact of the matter it was his choice. So I'm being a hypocrite. Sure I like Shinobi, but the fact that he first went to it seem pretty pathetic. But what do I know? I picked it up and even read it, but maybe I'm disgusted because it was a reflection of how I look when I pick up the newest comics to read.
He came up to me asking about whether or not we sell games. I said not that type he asked for, but his dissappointment looked of that of a child. His method of asking was that of a child. To me he was a child.
Sure they might live in regret for being such a nerd in life, but isn't that better than "living" the regret?

The status of my love life.
*Checks*
It does not exist.
*cheers but weeps on the inside*
Poor deluded souls. Beware to those who choose me as their partner. Mwa hahahahahhahahahah

Well I'm elated today...Why? I finally found an ac adaptor right in my house! (after buying an incorrect one). Sure it's only 4.5 volt and it might fuck up my machine, but I think it's enough not to do so, which my machine requires only a 5 volt charge. In more than a year I have listened to my Minidisc mixes, full of Tea Party stuff. Most importantly the indie album which I have been sorely missing due to it's increibly raw quality and blues. FUck did I ever miss it....FUCK FUCK FUCKITY fuck.
Oh yeah pie!

Three things on my mind right now: fat people, and (something else later)
First of all fat people. I don't really understand why Canadians had to spend a few million to do a study on why a lot of population are overweight. Here it is, plain and simple, we are heading towards a virtual society. Obviously the internet, tv and video games are much to blame. Now with 400 some channels, there's a special channel for EVERYONE. Payperview, games that last for 60 hours, not to mention replay value. Online games and MMORPGs which last even longer or a life time. Fast food joints popping up like no one's business 59 cent hamburger? I'll take ten cow hooves specials please! It's as simple as that.
I'm enamoured about the airport. I don't know why. I mean big lavish ones too. Not the crappy on in FSJ here. The fact is, I feel something weird about airports, how the whole idea of them being the "hub" of the world opens the imagination to many things. The problem is, the airport can also be a place of mundane scenary due to stock tourist places...like a Canadian store much like Steel Toes, but with more trinkets and shit made from China or Taiwan (how very Canadian). That what really kinda pissed me off, this blatent piece of Canadiana that is nowhere near what it is....however I guess I would gobble up that type of stereotypical garbage if I were in a Brtish airport or German airport, so I guess to someone it is still good.
What really interests me about the airport is that it is such a place to really meet people....not some contrived get together, but actually might find interesting people who, like you, are exploring the world and are eager to explore your world. It's the small things that really interest me about airports, how it's constructed to be so open in a place that often forces you in tight lines. How the act of going to the airport is a trip upon itself....like entering another world. I love how different people are in the the same place, all from different countries and how everyone seems to be equal because of the sole fact of waiting. Everyone sleeps in the same darn place and sometimes in the same darn position on the airport seats. Even though restricted; I love how when you come or go from a place, you always find something new. It almost encourages you to buy a ticket, just to enter a different branch of the airport which houses gates to another part of the world.
I remember when I returned from Hong Kong, coming back in the Vancouver airport was an experience upon itself. Walking through customes, but in this entirely different part of the airport....still a neat place where they spared no expense to make it as lavish as the other parts of the airport, yet it seemed like a waste...especially to me. I for one had the luxary of arriving in the middle of the night, where there was VERY few people aboard and an even shorter time to wait to go through customs. However I feel for those poor souls who have to wait (especially now) they can take in the pleasures of contrivity embossed in the totem poles flanking the large customs room.
The same feeling I had when I was quickly walking along walkways in order to reach the main airport....lovely sculptures steal fleeting glimpses, making me want to stay and enjoy the sights, despite being so blatently Canadiana. I felt like a tourist, wanting to take in everything.
The fact is, I love how the airport is a microsm, a small world upon itself. It's much like the bus stop, where people gather to wait (and I wish more people would interact more) a small part of the world where it's almost complete silence, seperating each other from communication...just like the real world. There's no real communication going on, just those to ask directions or the time. Just like the world where every discussion among countries on a global political scale isn't to be friends, but to help one another for practicality reasons. That's why I want to do a documentary of living in an airport for 24 hours. Seeing how this neat little world is...but then again I can't do it now due to 9/11. Stupid terrorists, ruining my idea. The innocence of flight is no longer here. It's interesting to see the safety of flight suddenly re-affirms the fact that we are not taking a taxi with a large chance of survial, but we are in fact flying in the air with little to no chance of survival. It reaffirms the fact that we are hunreds of feet in the air, dangling precariously on machines we put too much trust in.
more later I forgot my third topic...otherwise I'll make one up.

My list of sexy people ok....they're celelbrities. These are people I currently think are just sexy as hell.
Women:
Sheryl Crow (avec short hair): Rarrrr....I'd love to date this cougar.
Shannyn Sossaman: She has a real great smile....very gummy. I like it for some reason.
Sarah McLachlan (short hair): Yes she's married, damnit.
Sarah Polly? Polly Shannon?; Fuck there's a lot of "S" names here. Anyways, Canadian indie queen, and really ethreal.
Rachel Leigh Cook: i wub her in "She's All that". Super sexy. However I really am beginning to hate her various plain roles she's doing as of recent.
Christina Ricci: Not anymore, but nice to mention. I kinda liked her still before she went all skinny. Kinda beauty in imperfection.
Meg Ryan:Cute as a damn pixie, but I wub her!
Sarah Harmer and Carrie Ann Moss: Actually they're both Canadian, and I like how they look really rugged looking.
Men:
Ewan McGregor: It was until recently on the MTV awards that I noticed he has one of the sexiest mouths ever. Perfect teeth and even though kinda plain, great smile.
Clive Owen: Kinda on the scary side with his eyes, but he has beautiful lops. Once again he kinda has a statue face that freaks the hell out of me.
Brad Pitt: Duh....

Dreamd from reality.
I always know what my dreams are....I can never mistake my dreams for reality. Although in some cases the act of experiencing the dream might do so, but I would still know if it was a dream. Why?
My mind's eye is forever dark. I can never see dreams with the same clarity as that of real life. That's the only way I know the difference between dreams or not. It's like I'm observing a video in complete darkness with a veil over it. Yes that how I dream.

Changing marvel a bit:
X-men: Grant Morrison seems to be writing well. But I would like to continue on that note, and have Prof X kill Jean Grey for being too powerful. However he uses Wolverine (against his will) to kill her. Cyclops, I want Jean Grey to cripple him..kinda have a reverse effect on him, and eventually he goes AWOL and maybe make him a primary villan. Oh yeah, maybe get Northstar and Hank McCoy to hook up.
Spider-man more killing. Kill off Mary Jane. I hate her, and I hate how they brought her back so easily. Also kill off Jonah, but have Spiderman get framed for doing it, and have Robbie Robertson witness it. Then Robbie (one of Spiderman's biggest supporters) become the new Jonah.
Avengers: Can't do much with this motley bunch. Perhaps finally have the government buy it out, let's just say Tony Stark got kicked out and he was bitter about it. Any Avenger is now conscripted to do US missions because they have Vision in charge of implants that cause pain and explode upon removal. Cap America is exmept of course.
Iron Man: Do the spidey! Make him bankrupt and barely surviving ala Darkman. In fact make him poor like Darkman and doing high end inventions with low grade machines.
Thor: Three words: female host mortal. Let the hijinks commence!
Hulk: No more smashin....oh wait...already done.
Silver Surfer: Make him gold...he deserves it.
Captain America: two words, Amnesia Japan. Captain Otaku! But no seriously. maybe have him participate in a Japanese game show!

my list of shitty movies I love:
I don't know why I love them...I just do, to tell the truth I might like them cause they're brain candy. Pure entertainment.
Hudson Hawk: Duh
Long Kiss Goodnight
Speed 2: yes...fuck yes.
Cut-Throat Island.
Forget Paris: shitty or not?
I.Q.: Dunno..questionable.
Mortal Kombat: Shitty movie, great game -> movie translation
Street Fighter: camp factor morons.
The David Duchovny film with Timothy Hutton: two words: Raymond Blossom
C'est la vie.

When Anti Pop becomes pop:
Avril Lavinge and Pink are pop stars in a punk style. I hate it. It's hypocritical. Please die with the pop fad already.
Speaking on the topic of pop, did you notice that the only one who would survive the death of Pop music would be J. Lo? It's pretty obvious why she would out last all....above all else she can ACT. Secondly, she's changing with the times, often leading it and she is justifiably dabbling into Hip Hop styles, while still being her. More importantly, one thing that seems to be going for her is that she can be ethnically diverse. She can be black, latino and white all at the same time. Britney? j00've m3+ j00r m@+(h.
Bwa hahahahah die pop DIE!

I fucking hate forwards:
Sure I may be just as guilty due to doing my own share of forwarding, but at least....AT LEAST 99% of the time, I originate them. And yes I am discrediting them...all forms and shapes. That doesn't mean I hate them all, since a select few of forwards are actually good, but half of the time, it's the same rehashed shit from last month. You know what really pisses me off about forwards? They fact that they are just in general laziness of not e-mailing or contacting me in general. It almost insults me to a point where a friend regulates their relationship with me to ultimately the equilvalent of "telling bad jokes around the water cooler".
Bah...whatever.

Evolution of the geek.
Origin species: Small oft ostrisized person who looked different and often ugly to most other people.
Origin species > Early to mid 20th century Geek:
Often seen as a person who is smart and wearing glasses. Glasses that probably was caused by the amount of reading they did.
Origin species >Eary to mid 20th century Geek > Modern Day geek:
New and improved, one of the first social groups to be accepted into mainstream society, not as a friend but as an necessity due to the increase use of the computer. It also helps that geek culture has quietly spilled into the mainstream, almost blurring the line between geek culture and others.
Origin species >Early to mid 20th century Geek > Modern Day geek > Nerd:
A derivative of geek, however has the sad nature of absolutely NO social skills. They may show attributes such as intelligence and humbleness, but still a somewhat socially un-ambitious creature.
Origin species >Early to mid 20th century Geek > Modern Day geek > Nerd > Serial Killer:
Nuff said dude...nuff said.
Origin species >Late to mid 20th century Geek > Modern Day geek > Useful geeks:
Geeks who specialize in useful subjects of society. Usefulness might vary depending on where and when society is, but most of the time for pratical applications to such goals of capitalism, benefit to mankind, nationalism or even evil nature. refer: Mad Scienetist, Dr. Frankenstein.
Origin species >Late to mid 20th century Geek > Modern Day geek > Useful geeks > computer geeks:
Yes most geeks are akin to the computer and more recently the internet, however as we can see, computer geeks has been a new breed coming orginating from the increased use of computers and especially becasue of the internet and networking. Very useful.
Origin species >Late to mid 20th century Geek > Modern Day geek > Useful geeks > computer geeks > PC gaming geeks:
Geeks who dedicate themselves to PC gaming. FPS's, real time strategy, and more importantly an origin of MMOPRG geeks. Could be quesitonable if solely specilized in gaming, on their pratical usefulness to society.
Origin species >Late to mid 20th century Geek > Modern Day geek > Useful geeks > computer geeks > hackers:
Stereotyped as evil geeks who hack into systems in order to explore or commit cyber crime.
Origin species >Late to mid 20th century Geek > Mid 20th century onwards > Un-useful geeks:

Company specific fanboys (Nintendo, SNK, Konomi), Game series specific factions (Street Fighter, KOF, Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy) and most importantly console specific ones, (Nintendo, PSX, Sega (RIP), X Box.)
Origin species > artists:
Encapsulating both the entire past of geekdom, and the present of modern day arts, these geeks are the most creative in terms of non-pratical imagination. Related to the un-useful geeks genus. Often wallowing in obscurity, only to have a few suceed into fame, artists are resiliant and as with all geeks are dedicated to their interests. However this might also be the most arrogant of the group of the geek family, being the questioners of society, pointing fingers at those in power and nitpicking about social problems and aspects of life.
Artists are also the geeks that gather the most coverage of mental illness, creating the stereotype of the mad genius. These geeks are ever expanding, but mostly encapsulate: writers, painters, visual artists, sculptors, poets, movie makers, directors, screenwriters, comic book artists, actors/actresses, comedians, musucians, performance artists, singers, songwriters, dancers, etc.
Origin species > artists > commerical artists:

Origin species >Late to mid 20th century Geek > Modern Day geek > Punks:
Derivative of the geek culture of being ostrisized, punks often seek an outlet of self destruction and anarchy as their personality. Anti establishment, and often anti everything, this is the geek nature being pushed to an aesthetic limit of being on the fringe of clothing sytles. Often a sub-culture of geek that defies being part of the mainstream.
Origin species >Late to mid 20th century Geek > Modern Day geek > Punks > Goths:
Often a small difference, being Goth's dabble more intesnely into dark depressing matters. Seeing the dark as a way of life, they can go on from here to praticing being a vampire, praticing wicca etc. Once again going much further from ostrisized, but going beyond it to the point of leaving this world for another. Can go through the punk route, but can directly decend from "modern day geek". Black is their signature clothing style, also an often important part is adrogeny.

The First Party Killer Ap is just the toe really:
Talking to a friend recently, he said Metroid Prime was the snitz. I'm inclined to agree, but one thing I do not agree that it's not the proclaimed "Killer Ap" that would cause gamers to buy buy buy the gamecube.
This is somewhat a complex relationship, but I think this is more subjective than anything else. I don't expect the gaming community to realize that my opinion-which-is-about-be-formed is set in stone or even to be common sense, but it's a particularly nice little theory I'd like to throw by.
Now that I reflect on it, this opinion may also be based upon being not only who produced the games but what type of game...hence the whole kiddie game syndrome, but this is just to notify people I also feel this way.
Anyways on with the show.
Basically my arguement "Metroid Prime" would not sell systems because of some certain things. To look back it could be rooted in the whole "first party" and "third party" developers, much brought into the spotlight when the N64 came out with little to no third party support, especially from the big wigs who decided to jump ship. Now as we can see, first party games were good but it only went so far since it was the variety and the specific series of "third party developers" that pushed the envelope and brings in the players.
EDIT EDIT EDIT:
To accomodate my friends to not deal with the hazard of reading my long-winded essay and growing hair on their hands as a result thereof, here's the easiest way I can make my agruement:
RollingStones = Metroid Prime (First Party Developers)
Eninem = Gta 3 (Third Party Developers)
The stones are so ingrained into musical culture that they have became music. Eninem, while not necessarily the flavour of the month, is indeed the new thing, the different thing, away from musical culture that it is a seperate entity. The reliable Stones are still good, but regulated to a point where we take advantage of their reliability and often gloss over they recent recordings, even though in the background they are still making untold millions from their old albums.
Baiscally what I'm saying that these first party games are so ingrained in gaming culture (especially those in the 8-Bit and 16-Bit era) that sometimes they get overlooked because of it's reliability of being there, or just being over-done (despite still being good). The games specific to these systems like Sonic to Sega and Mario to Nintendo no longer becomes the mascot for their systems or even seperate entities of their companies...they become the company.
That's why third party developers are so important. That's why I think PS2 and X-Box may do better since they don't have a "set" with their gaming life. They seem like nomads, wandering the world for the next big thing without being loyal to anyone. And getting killer aps to those PS2 brands like GTA or Final Fantasy goes to show that it sells systems. Their systems are the mascots, not their games. Notice how Perfect Dark and Goldeneye were the killer aps of the N64?
note that this is from my previous rambling before I shortened it to hell..
Before I digress into some other branch, how I relate my last paragraph is liken to the idea of possibly friends.
First party developers = close friends
Third party developers = friends of close friends
Basically these first party games like Metroid Prime or Legend of Zelda are these close friends. Friends who been with you for so long, you get together well. But also at the same time being so immersed into them you have the liberty of not thinking about them more often that other aspects of your life. Third party developers out side the realm of influence and similarities of the "First party developers" are the friends of your close friends. You would like to know more about them since they are different and even possibly a different circle of friends that intrigues you and tickles your fancy of exploring new worlds. You might even think more of them than your close friends (for the short term) and gloss over your close friends.
Another analogy I can make is body parts...just for the first party thing. Your toe maybe sexy, but if I see it every day, it might lose that sex appeal. Put on a sexy shoe (that's the third party developers) and whatever...you get the idea.

Hypocrisy:
Shallow hal teaches us to look at the inner beauty of people. Yet who do the Farrely brothers get to play said fat person *non-fat* for 90% of the film? Gwenyth "I'm-a-stick" Paltrow. Now I appreciate the sentiment of guiding a bunch of moron seeing movie goers (no offense to most of you) to see that people are beautiful on the inside but it's not exactly productive to say "every fat person has a skinny person waiting inside and they're HAWT".
Now I know I've been hypocritical at some point of time, it's unavoidable...fuck screw it. End of story.
bye

Self centered in my own orbit:
I am not self centered.
At least I hope I'm not. Upon reflecting upon the problems I've come to realize I'm fairly laid back compared to a lot of people...depending on the situation that is. But generally I stay sane by this lovely idea:
I don't want the world to rotate around me....just rotate somewhere away from me, while I'm by myself.
Now I personally think that this isn't selfish cause I am respective to the orbits of other galaxies, but it's just that I'm on my own damn jolly way to do whatever the hell I want. Sure it may actually seem selfish, but the point is, when I'm not too worried about nudging atmospheres with close planets, I can worry about bigger things like planets colliding into worldly desctruction. Basically be polite but don't care too much about what other people say...let alone analyze it to death. Of course it all depends such as respolsibility and sincerity but all us little humans should know the difference....
Right?

My friend's aunt.....
scared me recently. She wasn't too frightenly scary, but no one in my life has caused such fear in my in regards to my art. I finally felt what it feels like to have somewhat the whole weight of resposiblity being put unto me with this person. This might a good thing. She was awfully forward in determining to see my art, or photos of it, and apparently would hound me, or get my friend to hound me. The fact is I hardly have a portfolio to show let alone anything beyond a school project looking art. But then again this might a good thing since fear does motivate to better oneself. We shall see....plus it does help the fact that she is a gemini. I get along great with gemninis. My aunt and brother are geminis.
Yay!
